Revised and simplified rules and regulation for Ladies Hostel and Men's Hostel

Students in the Ladies Hostel
The revised and simplified rules and regulations for students in the Ladies hostel is furnished below. It will be effective from 1st November 2011.
  • The in time is extended up to 8.30 PM in the case Hostel blocks (gates) to students. However, the main gate in timing will remain the same (7.00 PM).

  • Extra time in week days


  • It is proposed to introduce a format (.xls Late Entry Request Form), which can be used by the Students for obtaining the late entry permission (Academic purpose only-Usage of Lab/Extended Classroom sessions) from the concerned Faculty. The Students shall use this duly filled in Request Form (Softcopy) to obtain the permission from the concerned faculties. The Faculty shall approve those requests through email, marking it to the Group Email ID ( latehours.lh@vit.ac.in  - Group comprising of – Hostel Warden/Security Office/Block Supervisors/ Asst Superintendent-Hostel/Students Welfare) created for the Girls Hostel.

    - The approvals shall not be given for longer durations (i.e. - Not more than 5 consecutive days).

    - The approval period shall be used for spending time in the labs for Academic / Research purposes and for any extended classroom sessions only.

  • Students can be allowed for week end outings only for 6 hours either Saturday or Sunday only four times per month between 8.00 AM and 6.00 PM (Exit and entry of Main Gate) with prior permission from wardens (One day in Advance).

  • Defaulters of week end outings (more than 6 hrs) will not be allowed for outings in the subsequent month

  • Parents (In-person) may put in writing (undertaking of the parent/ guardian* ) once in a semester to allow the students to go for outings every week end (more than four times).

  • Parents would be allowed to take their wards for week end outings including overnight stay for any number of times provided if they come in person and accompany with them

  • Students would be allowed to celebrate birthday parties in a specified place (Visitor Hall) between 6.30 AM and 10.00 PM with prior permission from the Warden.

  • Silence hours should be maintained strictly between 11.30 PM and 6.30 AM. Violations more than three times would call for expulsion from the hostel.

  • Biometric system (with sufficient number of machines) would be introduced to monitor the attendance and presence of the student in the hostel rooms in required hours.

  • The attendance defaulters would be informed to their parents
    • Warning for the first and second time attendance defaulters.
    • The third time attendance defaulters, parents would be called to meet the Chief Warden / University Officials.
    • Continuous defaulters of attendance would be expelled from the Hostel.

  • Students along with their parents need to submit a personal security bond (to be submitted on or before 15th Nov 2011) (Personal security bond by a student along with the parent /Guardian ** )

  • Once in a semester to allow them for outings (overnight stay) either on week ends/during instructional/non-instructional days to their relatives place and also to their native place once in a month with written permission from the warden.

  • Students (girls) would be allowed to leave the hostel in late hours (by showing the proof) depending up on their train/ bus timings. Security personnel would be allowed to accompany them to the railway /bus station.

  • Similarly students (girls) would be allowed to return to the hostel late hours if they are coming to the university by authorized trip from far off places (proof of travel in the form of ticket is required).

  • A common table with provisions for electricity supply (sufficient plug points) would be provided at the entrance/ alternative floors of each hostel block for ironing.

The students are advised to strictly adhere to the above rules and regulations in the interest of their academic performance and career.

Students in the Men's Hostel
The revised and simplified rules and regulations for students in the men's hostel is furnished below.   It will be effective from 1st November 2011.
  • The in time is extended up to 9.30 PM in the case seniors in the respective Hostel blocks (gates) and 9:00 PM in the case of first years (UG students).

  • Extra time in week days

    It is proposed to introduce a format (.xls Late Entry Request Form), which can be used by the Students for obtaining the late entry permission (Academic purpose only-Usage of Lab/Extended Classroom sessions) from the concerned Faculty. The Students shall use this duly filled in Request Form (Softcopy) to obtain the permission from the concerned faculties. The Faculty shall approve those requests through email, marking it to the Group Email ID ( latehours.mh@vit.ac.in  - Group comprising of – Hostel Warden/Security Office/Block Supervisors/ Asst Superintendent-Hostel/Students Welfare) created for the Men Hostel.

    - The approvals shall not be given for longer durations (i.e. - Not more than 5 consecutive days)

    - The approval period shall be used for spending time in the labs for Academic / Research purposes and for any extended classroom sessions only.

  • Students would be allowed to celebrate birthday parties in a specified place (TV Hall or specified Room in each block) between 6.30 AM and 10.00 PM with prior permission from Warden.
