CENTRE FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY

Biotechnology is the Science and Technology of 21st Century. This 'sunshine' technology is eco friendly and even its manufacturing processes do not pollute the environment. Based on rDNA and Bioprocess technology, this is the area in which exciting discoveries are made. The Centre is established to carry out state-of-the-art research.

Main Objective:
  • To focus on problems that are of immediate use to the neighbouring areas such as leather industry, medicinal plants, neutraceuticals etc.
Major Research areas in focus:
  • Environmental cleaning up of tannery wastes through Biotechnology interventions
  • Animal diseases diagnostics
  • Plant tissue culture & enhancement of active ingredient content of medicinal plants
  • Bioinformatics, Proteins and metabolic engineering Bioprocess development for neutraceuticals
More than Rs. 2.0 crores have been invested by way of advanced equipment and new infrastructures.
