VIT University, established in 1984, offers more than 17 Bachelor’s and 32 Master’s Programmes in addition to Research Degrees in Engineering, Management, Science and Languages. Apart from sharing its academic excellence with society, VIT is encouraging a lot of social activities in schools across the country. Few of them are: GV School Development Programme, STARS Scheme, providing computers and other furniture, creating more than 13 endowment awards in various academic institutions. InoVIT - A Science Contest for School Children is another mega annual event launched by VIT University to create and encourage the scientific innovations in the young minds at the school level.

Main Objectives:
1. To stimulate interest in science activities among students, and provide opportunities for them to develop initiative and creativity in areas of interest in science.
2. To provide an outlet for students to apply their technical and scientific knowledge and skill from various science disciplines, towards the benefit and betterment of society and mankind a whole.
3. To recognize and honour the students for their excellence in the sciences

Working Model

Eligibility and Instructions:
1. Students between 9th and 12th standard can participate.
2. A maximum of THREE students in a team will be permitted.
3. Original Work will only accepted.
4. An abstract, not more than 250 words should be submitted for entering in the qualifying round.
Topics: Clean Energy System, Working Models for Environmental Challenges, Sensor System, Multi functional wind mill, GPS based system, Robotics, Wireless, Telecommunication, Automobiles, Information Technology, and Microprocessor & Controller.
Prizes: 1st Prize: Rs. 50,000, 2nd Prize: Rs. 25,000, 3rd Prize: Rs. 15,000

Poster Presentation

Eligibilty and Instructions:
1. Students between 9th and 12th standard can participate.
2. A maximum of THREE students in a team will be permitted.

5. Poster should be displayed for the preliminary and final rounds.
Topics:Integrated farming, Renewable energy and ultimate solution for Power crisis, Energy saving solutions, Radiation from cell phones, Mechanism of fever, Green Chemistry = Wealth, Pollution = Economic Disaster, World you see after 2020, and Water and food for all.

Idea Presentation

Eligibility and Instructions:
1. Students between 9th and 12th standard can participate.
2. A maximum of TWO students in a team will be permitted.
3. Preference will be given for ideas that are novel/original/creative and provide cost-effective solutions.
4. An abstract, not more than 250 words should be submitted for entering in the qualifying round.
Topics:Conservation of energy & alternative fuels, Global Warming, Bioremediation, Green Chemistry, Food Processing Issues, Malnutrition, Environmental / Human Health, Agricultural Practices, Food Security, Poverty Alleviation.

Quiz

Eligibilty and Instructions:
1. Students between 9th and 12th standard can participate.
2. A maximum of THREE students in a team will be permitted.
3. Questions will be from the syllabus of 9th to 12th std.
4. Rules will be announced just before the commencement of Quiz.
5. Qualifying and Preliminary rounds will be conducted in the respective State centers along with the Preliminary Round of other events.
6. Short listed teams from the Preliminary Round will be called for the final round at VIT University.

Qualifying Round
1. Participants have to send an abstract not more than 250 words about their Working Model/ Poster/ Idea Presentations.
2. These abstracts will be evaluated by respective committees.
3. Only the student of the selected abstract will be called for the Preliminary Round.
4. No registration fees is needed for this round.
Preliminary Round
1. The Preliminary Round will be conducted in 18 centers of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry.
2. Participants can choose a convenient center in the State to participate in this round.
3. A Certificate of Participation will be given to all the students participating in the Preliminary Round.
4. Participants are requested to report at the center on time.
5. Selected participants for the Preliminary Round should pay Rs. 100 as a registration fee for participating at the InoVIT 2013.
6. Working Models should be displayed in the allotted places.
7. Idea Presentation can be made using charts only. No PPT slides.
8. Posters must be of 20 * 25 inches in size. Ordinary chart paper or vinyl banner can be used. You can use pictures, diagrams, flow chart, cartoon, etc.
9. Qualifying Round for the quiz will be held in the morning and the Preliminary Round in the afternoon at the Preliminary Round Centre.
10. The Date and the Venue of the Preliminary Round will be announced in the VIT website shortly.
Final Round
1. The Final Round will be held at VIT University in the First week of January 2013 for TWO days.
2. Free Accommodation and Food will be provided for the participants at VIT University.
3. The participants of the Working Model / Poster Presentation will be called two days in advance to display their work at VIT so that students from other schools can visit the exhibition.
4. Participants selected for the Final Round from Idea Presentations will be permitted to use PPT slides and also the model related to the ideas.
5. Posters of 20*25 inches size can be used. The title will be announced after the preliminary round.
6. For Quiz, 54 teams (3 teams * 18 centres) will be called for the Final Round. The rules for the Final Round will be announced on the spot.
7. Jury members from IITs, IISc, VIT and other Institutions from other States will judge the final round.


General Instructions

1. ONLY students from Std. 9th to Std. 12th will be allowed to participate in all events.

2. ONLINE REGISTRATION for all the events can be done at http://www.vit.ac.in/ (OR) Xerox copies of the enclosed registration form can be completed and sent to the Organizing Secretary on or before 10th November 2012. No sport entry will be permitted.

3. Only the selected students from the Qualifying Round will be permitted to participate in the Preliminary Round. No students will be permitted to participate more than one event.

4. Qualified participants from the Preliminary Round should pay the registration fee of Rs.100 in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of “InoVIT 2013, VIT University” payable at Vellore. Students from the same school can send the registration fee in a single Demand Draft. Please send the DD on or before 20th  Nov 2012.
