School of Advanced Sciences (SAS)

The School of Advanced Sciences consists of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics disciplines. It also offers M. Phil. and Ph. D. programmes in these domains. The faculty of the school comprises qualified and goal-oriented members whose research expertise includes all frontier areas in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. The faculty strength of the School is 117. In addition, the School avails of the services of 34 nonteaching staff members.

The curriculum keeps abreast of the latest advancements in the respective domains and endeavours to mould the students into scientists of high quality. Graduates from the School are much sought after by companies in India and many have secured jobs and admissions in institutions abroad.
The research focus areas of the divisions of the School are :
Applied Analysis, Applied Algebra, Fluid Dynamics, Statistics & Operational Research, Crystal Growth and Crystallography, Nuclear & Medical Physics, Photonics, Materials, Organic Chemistry, Environmental & Analytical Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The School has been receiving research grants from funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, DRDO, BRNS, IGCAR and ARDB. The School is also recognised by DST for support under the FIST programme.
