About the programme:
The Computer Science and Engineering programme at VIT-AP is a unique blend of hardware and software, allowing students to gain knowledge about the concepts that enable many of today’s fundamental technologies, including Wireless Communication and the Internet of Things. The initial level courses provide students with a core foundation in programming, mathematical reasoning, physics and circuit design. The latter part blends fundamentals in computer science including software engineering, database management system, computer networks, operating systems and computer architecture with fundamentals in electrical engineering including digital logic design and embedded systems. Electives allow students to specialize in advanced fields.
In this program, you will gain hands-on experience in the theory and application of computing, as well as practical experience through Engineering Clinics, Capstone Project and Internship. Students pursuing computer science courses will acquire knowledge of design, implementation and management of information system of both hardware and software. You will, further, learn to use computing and information technology to help solve existing and potential real world problems that we face in business, science and society.

The B. Tech. course in Computer Science and Engineering with Network Security specialization offered by VIT-AP is to cater to the demand for security aspects of computer network having critical business needs. The objective of the undergraduate program B.Tech ECE (Specialization in VLSI) is to provide a versatile education VLSI circuits and systems .The program emphasizes the key aspects of hardware design and development for VLSI applications. The prime focus is laid on the areas like VLSI system design, RF circuit design, ASIC design, FPGA based systems design and SOC based design and verification. The VLSI discipline is for design and verification of electronics systems and circuits and its applications are found in areas like signal processing, image processing, networks and communication applications.

About the programme:
The undergraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering has a strong focus over the design of mechanical systems and hands-on experience. The programme includes in-depth study of thermal, design, manufacturing and automation courses at core curriculum level to design the systems relevant for industries. In addition to the theoretical and laboratory based curriculum, students have to complete engineering clinics courses and a capstone project. The students have to complete a co-op in the industry for one semester. This degree programme provides a strong foundation in mechanical engineering discipline, development of critical thinking and problem solving skills. Besides the technical skills, the academic programmes also sharpen communication, writing and problem solving skills.
The department has state of the art facilities in the Thermal Engineering Systems Laboratory, Fluid Lab, Materials Engineering Lab, Manufacturing Process Lab, Workshop, Computational Fluid Dynamics Lab, Strength of Materials Lab, Engines Lab, Robotic Laboratory, Heat Transfer Laboratory.

About the programme:
M.Tech Software Engineering is offered by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of IT industry in the areas of software engineering design and implementation. Our Software Engineering program goes beyond teaching simple programming, and instead focuses on modern software engineering principles, tools, and analysis techniques for the design of large and complex software systems. The initial level courses provide students with a core foundation in programming, mathematical reasoning, physics and circuit design. The later part blends fundamentals in IT programming including software engineering, database management system, computer networks, operating systems and storage technologies, IoT, and cloud computing. Electives allow students to specialize in advanced fields such as database administration, network administration, big data, team management software, software professional management etc.
Students gain hands-on experience in the theory and application of software programming, as well as practical experience through Engineering Clinics, Capstone Project and Internship.
Students can also gain work experience while pursuing the program through the co-operative education or the industrial applications internship option. Students in the internship option are both full-time students and paid employees of the industrial partner. While working with professional developers at various industries, they are familiarised with fundamentals of the software and computer programming and its applications to solve real problems for customers. Graduates in the program will be exceptionally well-placed for a career in India’s top software-development companies.
There is no dearth of opportunities for qualified professionals in the industry, both in India and abroad. Most IT companies practice and implement software development life cycles, which feature Product Design, Product Development, Product Implementation and Product Support.
Roles you could be hired for include software analyst, software testing managers, software quality managers, architect, research engineer or managerial roles such as team leader or technology officer.
About the Programme:
VIT-AP supports a large number of students at the PhD level to carry out scientific and systematic research for pertinent information in diverse areas of engineering, science and humanities.
a. Internal full-time Candidates: A candidate who wishes to work for Ph.D degree on full time (including project staff working in sponsored projects being carried out at the institute) should apply in the prescribed form on or before due dates to be announced normally once every year.
b. Internal part-time candidates: All the staff members of the institute having the requisite minimum qualifications can work on a part time basis for Ph.D degree. They should apply in the prescribed form on or before the dates to be announced normally once every year.
c. External part-time candidates: Teachers working in other colleges in a permanent position and candidates sponsored by R & D organisations, National laboratories and Industries having R & D facilities recognized by DSIR, with requisite minimum qualifications can work on part time basis for Ph.D degree but they should apply in the prescribed form on or before the specified dates, to be announced normally once every year.
a. Ph.D. in Engineering: Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Business Administration with a first class or a minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5 on a 10 – point scale) or equivalent like M.Sc (Engineering) / M.S. by Research.
b. Ph.D. in Sciences / Humanities / Languages: Master’s degree with a minimum 60% in Sciences / Humanities / Social Sciences Master’s degree with a minimum 55% in Languages.
The course will open a range of opportunities and interesting job profiles such as
a. Applications will be invited by open advertisement in all leading news papers / local announcement for all categories of candidates mentioned in section 2.
b. Doctoral and M.Phil. candidates should take VITREE (VIT Research Entrance Examination) choosing a field of their specialization. Candidates for Integrated PhD and M.Tech. by Research programmes should take VITMEE (VIT Masters’ Entrance Examination) in the field of specialization.
c. Selected candidates will be called for a personal interview to be conducted at the campus where the admission is sought.
d. Final Selection will be based on the overall merit index of the candidate which will be arrived at by taking into account the candidate’s performance in the previous university examinations at Master’s level and the performance in the written test, research output and / the performance in personal interview.
